Indonesia is a tobacco republic (similar to former central america banana republics) where the tobacco industry has a direct powerfull influence over political/judicial process of the country, where around 70% of men/boys smoke, over 300,000 lives a year are lost directly to "One dollar a pack", "5 cent a single" unlimited mass advertising tobacco, demaguogue politicians blame/escape goat non-tobacco drug dealers for lives lost, justifying applying death penalty, specially to drug-mules, including dozens of foreigners, including 2 Brazilian, 2 Australian and 1 Dutch already executed.

Tobacco kills around 8 Million worldwide, while all illicit drugs kill around 800 thousand or ten times less. Alcohol kills 3 million directly in addition to indirectly as secondary cause and in traffic accidents. In addition the pseudo-democratic government conducts harsh abusive judicial/military repression on alleged terrorists and national separatists, as West Papua, to perpetuate their island-tobacco empire.

Big tobacco multinational corporations advertise massivily including distributing free cigarettes. Minor tobacco smoking is massive, symbolized by a 6 year old that smoked 2 packs a day, with viral video on the internet, where parents tobacco addicts/farmers said there was nothing they could do, because he got food money to buy cigarettes instead and will get mad if his cigarretes are taken, while 3 year brother doesn't smoke as much. Indonesia produces over 300 million cigarettes, over 20 billion dollar market, with government officials profit from taxes (37%, global average 70% with advertising, sale restrictions, specially enforced to minors, alcohol is 150%, other drugs are death penalized).

Tobacco has a global market, incuding US/UK which has the largest producing companies and advertisers; government has outlawed sale of tobacco to minors and introduced some negative alert packaging requirements; separatists want to form unsustainable micro nations instead of remaining in more prosperous Indonesian Federation; larger countries as China and US practice the death penalty with impunity.
